Our hens have lots of space, clean open nests, and living trees to roost in each night after they spend the day scratching and enjoying the outdoors. They are not confined to small cages, kept alone, nor forced to lay more eggs by using artificial lighting all night long. They get fresh water daily, and plenty of vegetable-based and natural foods that produce wholesome, colorful eggs in various shades of traditional whites, spotted browns from fawn to suntan, and pure Araucana eggs in colors from olive green to turquoise blue. We use no hormones or antibiotics while our hens are laying. We add flax seed to their diet to increase the amount of Omega-3 Fatty Acids in their eggs, too. Eggs are collected and promptly refrigerated twice daily. Size is usually large, about 1.5 to 1.7 ounces each.
